UNEARTH: UCI School of Nursing &Midwifery Lira Clarifies On Ebola Claims, Result Tested Negative

Lira, Uganda: The management at Uganda Christian Institute of Nursing and Midwifery in Lira City, one of the top medical schools in Northern Uganda, has denied rumors on social media about a suspected Ebola case at their institution.

Uganda is currently on high alert follwing the confirmation of ebola outbreak in the country by ministry of health.

Earlier, some local news outlets claimed that the UCI school of Nursing and Midwifery school, located in the eastern division of Lira City, had reported an Ebola case.

However , Mr. Sam Omara, the Director of the UCI School of Nursing and Midwifery, clarified to the media that they have not recorded any such incidents and are well-prepared with the necessary Ebola precautions as advised by health officials.

Assistant Resident City Commissioner,  Bonny Okello Alele urged students to be calm while dismissing  the report of closure of the school

 He encouraged the community to stay calm and disregard such information. 

Omara mentioned that the school is operating normally while adhering to strict health guidelines. However, a health official in Lira City, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that their result was found negative setting the school free.

He emphasized that no Ebola cases have been confirmed at the school and cautioned against spreading negative reports. 

 UCI School of Nursing and Midwifery in Lira is recognized as a leading institution in Lango, having trained many professionals in the medical field.

The school has trained and mentored many in the field of medical.
