BIG NEWS :Maruzi County MP Obong Acuda Donates Ambulance, Funeral Van to Community

APAC, Uganda: Maruzi County Member of Parliament, Peter Obong Acuda, has intensified efforts to improve community access to emergency health and funeral transport services, following the recent acquisition of vehicles intended to support residents during medical emergencies and bereavement.

The legislator, who was elected in 2026 under the Uganda People's Congress (UPC) ticket, is fulfilling a key campaign promise to bolster healthcare and community welfare in his constituency. To date, he has secured a vehicle dedicated to transporting patients requiring urgent care to health facilities.

One of these vehicles was delivered even before he officially took the oath of office, according to information obtained by The Luo Native. This early action underscores his commitment to immediate community needs.

The initiative aims to assist vulnerable residents—particularly those who face difficulties affording emergency transportation to clinics and hospitals. Rural communities in Maruzi often encounter significant delays in reaching healthcare providers due to limited transport options, which can have life-threatening consequences.

In a recent development this month, The Luo Native has learned that MP Acuda has added another ambulance and a dedicated funeral vehicle to his community support fleet. The new funeral vehicle is expected to help families transport deceased relatives, especially in remote areas where transportation costs and logistical challenges can be prohibitive.

Speaking exclusively to this publication, MP Obong Acuda emphasized his ongoing dedication to supporting his constituents and responding to their needs:

_"I want to support my people in whatever way I can. Access to emergency transport is crucial because patients need to reach health facilities in a timely manner, and families need support during difficult moments,"_ he stated.

The MP highlighted that these vehicles form part of a broader strategy to improve residents' welfare and complement existing government health services. He also expressed his intention to work closely with community leaders and stakeholders to identify additional priority needs.

_"My goal is to continue working with the community to identify and implement initiatives that directly benefit the people of Maruzi. These vehicles are just the beginning of our efforts to ensure everyone has access to essential services,"_ Acuda added.
