SPORTS NEWS: Dr. Aceng Graces USSSA Lango Zonal Games, Inspires Young Students A head of the National Competition- The LUO Native

Lira, Uganda – The USSSA (Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association) Lango Zonal games received a significant boost as the dedicated Health Minister and Lira City Woman MP, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, graced the event, inspiring young students and underscoring the importance of sports in education and community development.
The tournament, held at Ambalal Primary School in Lira City, brought together representatives from District teams from across the Lango sub-region, competing in football for boys and girls.

In her message, Dr. Aceng praised the students for their dedication, urging them to balance academics and sports.
"Sports is a powerful tool for shaping character and unlocking opportunities. Your participation today could be the first step toward national or international glory," she said.
The minister pledged to collaborate with USSSA and local leaders to improve sports infrastructure in the region, ensuring young talents have the facilities needed to thrive.
During the game, Mentor Schools became the wining champion.
True to her medical background, Dr. Aceng also reminded athletes and spectators to prioritize hygiene, hydration, and injury prevention during competitions.
Reactions:
USSSA Officials headed by Sam Bob Okino who is also the headteacher of Lango College lauded Dr. Aceng’s presence, calling it a morale booster for the Lango Zone.
He appealed to Minister to lobby more for them inorder to support them in the national competition taking place in the eastern part of Uganda.
Student Athletes expressed excitement, with one footballer stating, "Seeing a leader like her here makes us believe our efforts matter."
The zonal games serve as qualifiers for the USSSA national championships, with winners advancing to represent Lango at higher levels.
