Lira, Uganda: To achieve the dream of becoming a globally admired healthcare professional, choosing the right training institution is essential. It is not just about enrolling in any school, but joining one that upholds strong professional principles and is committed to delivering education beyond textbooks.
In Uganda, Victoria School of Nursing and Midwifery located in Lira City, Northern Uganda, stands out as one of the institutions with such qualities.
The school is widely recognized for producing competent healthcare professionals who uphold integrity, skill, and compassion in their service.
During a recent visit by our media team to the institution, it was observed that learning activities are in full progress for both January intake students and continuing learners. The school management, together with the Board of Governors and the Office of the Academic Registrar, has officially announced a fresh admission intake for July. This new opportunity is aimed at accommodating students who may have missed the first intake of the academic year.
Speaking to our team, the Chief Executive Officer of the institution, Dr. Isaac Orec, revealed that the school has capacity to admit over 300 additional students. These slots are available across both Diploma Extension Programs and Certificate courses.
Dr. Orec emphasized that the institution continues to excel not only academically but also in extracurricular engagements. He highlighted the school’s recent victory in a regional nursing skills competition held in Lango, where Victoria School of Nursing and Midwifery emerged as the overall winner among participating nursing institutions.
In response to the financial challenges many families continue to face following the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Orec also announced that the institution is offering bursaries to support deserving students. This initiative is intended to make quality healthcare education more accessible to a wider population.
