DAF School of Nursing and Midwifery, Kole District Elects New Guild Leaders

Kole District, Doctor Alele Foundation (DAF) School of Nursing and Midwifery has successfully conducted student guild elections following the expiration of the previous Guild Council’s term. The elections, held on Friday, were characterized by high student engagement and transparency, under the supervision of an independent electoral commission.

Mr. James Charles Akabwai was declared the newly elected Guild President for the academic year 2025/2026 after narrowly defeating his opponent, Mr. Onapa, by just four votes. Other elected student leaders include:

Sharon Munguci – Vice Guild President,

Abdul Shaqhur Kimuli – UNASNAM President, Sunday Levi – Guild Speaker and Jimmy Okwara as Health Minister.

The newly elected leaders will be officially sworn in next week during a grand ceremony at the institution’s main campus in Akalo Sub-county, Kole District.

In his victory speech, Mr. Akabwai thanked students for their trust and promised to foster unity and effective collaboration with the school administration. “I was elected because of the great love and trust of the students. I will strive to promote unity and togetherness within the school,” he said.

UNASNAM President-elect Abdul Shaqhur Kimuli also expressed gratitude, vowing to champion academic initiatives such as seminars to uphold educational standards. He commended the administration for its unwavering support.

“We invite interested students to seize this opportunity and join DAF School of Nursing and Midwifery,” she said, emphasizing that the institution offers both certificate and diploma programs.

In line with its commitment to inclusive education, the school has launched a Partial Scholarship Initiative, offering a 50% tuition waiver under the Student Financial Support Policy.
