Otuke District Speaker Ogwal Lameck YK Declares To Run For Otuke East Parliamentary Seat

OTUKE, UGANDA: Ogwal Lameck YK, the district speaker of Otuke and the area councilor for Ogwete  sub-county, has steped up to run against the current MP in the 2026 general election. 

As a lawyer, Ogwal shared his plans to move away from local government politics to give him wider space to suport his community. 

He revealed that as strong supporter of the ruling party and will first participate in the primary elections to secure the party's nomination. 

Ogwal believes that Otuke East has not been well represented at the national level, and he aims to change that if elected by the voters.

The outspoken Ogwal unveils his H main goals which include fighting poverty, improving healthcare services, and promoting education by building connections at both national and international levels.

 He also explained that he has received a lot of support from his community, especially from the youth who are helping him gather votes. 

Currently, he is the only one determined to challenge the incumbent MP, Julius Acon, in the NRM primaries.

Otuke East was created during 2021 general election as the new poltical administration unit, the first pioner mp of Otuke county was Honorable Daniel Omara Atuba, the former minister, housing and urban development who is also a lawyer by Proffesion.
