Otuke, Uganda: As the countdown to the 2026 polling date begins, residents of Otuke constituency have expressed optimism about improved healthcare services and education from political aspirant Tonny Opio Opio.

Addressing a large crowd of media and supporters at his home in Otuke District, Opio—a youthful entrepreneur and a renowned mobilizer for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party contesting for Otuke constituency parliamentary seat, outlined his agenda, which prioritizes enhancing social services in health and education.

He emphasized his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the constituency, stating, "Otuke has been lagging behind for too long, and I am determined to restore its lost glory."

Opio, who is currently enjoying widespread support from NRM members, highlighted the importance of unity and development in the region. He also commented on the recent defection of opposition politician and incumbent MP for Otuke, Paul Omara, to the NRM. Welcoming Omara's move, Opio remarked, "As a strong believer in democracy, I embrace healthy competition and look forward to the NRM primaries ahead of the general election."

In addition to his political ambitions, Opio has pledged to work closely with local leaders and stakeholders to ensure that his vision for Otuke becomes a reality. His plans include increasing access to quality healthcare facilities, improving educational infrastructure, and fostering economic growth through entrepreneurship and community-driven initiatives.

Currently more six polticians have emerged to battle for the parliamentary seat of Otuke constituency including their former district chairman of Otuke Bosco Odongo Obote.
