Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has reportedly issued another controversial statement targeting members and supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP).
According to the statement attributed to Muhoozi, he said that most NUP supporters he described as “terrorists” would be hanged, specifically mentioning opposition activist Eddie Mutwe.
“We intend to hang most of the NUP terrorists. Including Eddie Mutwe. We will do it soon,” the statement attributed to Muhoozi reads.
The reported remarks have generated concern because they involve a direct reference to the possible execution of an identifiable opposition figure.
Eddie Mutwe, whose real name is Edward Ssebuufu, is known as a close associate and bodyguard of NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi, commonly known as Bobi Wine.
