AMOLATAR - District Speaker Hopeful Okao Pledges Impartiality, Warned Against Interference in Election
AMOLATAR DISTRICT – With barely two weeks to the highly anticipated district council speaker election on May 21, 2026, independent candidate and LC5 Councillor for Agikdak Sub-county, Kizito Okao, has thrown down the gauntlet, positioning himself as the only unbiased solution to what he calls a history of “unnecessary political fights” in Amolatar district.
Okao, one of seven councillors vying for the prestigious speaker’s chair, yesterday issued a strongly worded appeal to his colleagues, urging them to reject external interference in the voting process. “Those involving themselves in the decision that is supposed to be taken by the honourable members of council should withdraw and leave this responsibility to the beneficiaries,” Okao warned, in a clear message directed at non-council actors he accuses of meddling.
At the heart of his campaign, Okao promises a radical shift from the district’s faction-ridden past. He has pledged to treat all parties equally, ensure every councillor contributes openly without interruption, and prioritize councillors’ welfare so that members can serve voters’ interests without being compromised.
“Amolatar has been a district of unnecessary political fights, and that’s why I come in to settle,” Okao said, casting himself as “a very independent, neutral and transparent speaker.”
Running as an independent against six other councillors, Okao’s pitch stands out in a race where alliances have shifted rapidly. He insists that the speakership contest must be decided solely by the 37 council members, free from behind-the-scenes bargaining by outsiders.

Political observers in Amolatar note that Okao’s emphasis on neutrality and welfare could resonate with a council weary of deadlocks and executive overreach. However, with six competitors also courting votes, the May 21 election remains wide open.
Okao concluded with a direct appeal: “My dear honourable members, come 21st May 2026, Okao Kizito is the only solution to the council of Amolatar.”
