Lira, Uganda : The Patriotic League Uganda ( PLU) Coordinator in Otuke District, Hon. Anyii Isaac Edward, has called on young people to actively embrace and support government development programs aimed at improving livelihoods and reducing poverty.
Speaking during an engagement with youth groups in the district, Mr. Anyii emphasized the importance of initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, noting that they are specifically designed to boost household incomes, create employment opportunities, and promote socio-economic transformation at the grassroots level.
He stressed that these programs must be protected and properly utilized, adding that they present a unique opportunity for young people to uplift themselves economically. He further encouraged the youth to take full advantage of the resources provided by government and actively participate in wealth creation initiatives.
Mr. Anyii, who was part of the mobilization team that contributed to the National Resistance Movement (NRM)’s strong electoral performance in the region, highlighted discipline, unity, and hard work as key pillars for success. He observed that several young people in Otuke have already begun to realize tangible benefits from these government programs.
His strong mobilization skills were also evident during the recent elections, where he played a significant role in rallying support for the NRM. His performance has since drawn recognition from various government leaders, with growing calls for him to take on greater responsibilities.
On the issue of capacity building, Mr. Anyii urged young people to prioritize education, noting that the job market is increasingly competitive and requires formal qualifications. He advised the youth to combine education with participation in government programs in order to secure a more stable future.
He concluded by calling for continued collaboration between the youth, local leaders, and government institutions to ensure sustainable development in Otuke District.
Mr. Anyii also expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his recent visit to the Lango sub-region, stating that the visit demonstrates the President’s commitment and support for the people of the area.
