INSPIRING: Loro S. S Sets Standards to Maintain Excellent Results & Enrollment
Oyam District, Uganda — Loro Secondary School, once struggling with low enrollment and academic challenges, is now experiencing an inspiring transformation that has filled the entire Lango community—and indeed the wider Northern Uganda region—with hope and excitement.
Historically, Loro Secondary School was facing tough times, with dwindling student numbers and limited performance in national exams. However, recent leadership changes and strategic improvements have turned the tide, making the school a beacon of progress and a preferred choice among parents and students.
Under the dynamic leadership of the new headteacher, Alfred Ojok, the school has seen a dramatic increase in student enrollment—from fewer than 200 students to over 700. This remarkable growth signals renewed confidence in the school's academic standards and the quality of education it now offers.
In an interview with local media, Geoffrey Opio, the deputy headteacher, shared that the school has set “unbeatable standards” aimed at boosting academic excellence and providing a nurturing learning environment. He highlighted recent upgrades, including improved classroom facilities, the availability of modern learning resources, and a supportive atmosphere that encourages students to excel.
At the school’s recent annual general meeting, Headteacher Alfred Ojok proudly shared key achievements such as improved results in national examinations and notable successes in sports and extracurricular activities. These accomplishments reflect the school's commitment to holistic development—nurturing not only academic excellence but also leadership and teamwork among students.
Security has also become a top priority. The school is currently is planning to fence its entire campus to ensure a safe and secure environment for both students and staff. Additionally, the school is equipped with electricity and standby generators, ensuring that teaching and learning continue smoothly even during power outages.
