Assistant RDC ALEBTONG Jimmy Okello Urges Farmers To Embrace Climate Smart Agriculture to overcome Poverty

Lira, Uganda| The Luo Natives: The office of the Resident District Commissioner in Alebtong District has urged the community to adopt the Climate Smart Agricultural project as a way to combat poverty.

Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) is a method of farming that aims to tackle the issues posed by climate change while ensuring food security, enhancing livelihoods, and supporting environmental health. This approach focuses on changing farming practices to adapt to shifting climate conditions, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and boost agricultural productivity sustainably. 

During a meeting with stakeholders in Angetta and Amugu sub-counties, Jimmy Okello, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner of Alebtong, emphasized the importance of farmers embracing climate-smart agriculture in today's world. 

He mentioned that practicing climate-smart agriculture can significantly increase farmers' productivity and should be widely accepted within the community. ARDC Okello also encouraged residents to make good use of the PDM fund to enhance their income and living standards. 

Okello also urged community to embrace and use Emyooga Project well to change their lives in the community. 

Additionally, he appealed to community of Alebtong to embrace President Museveni's message on wealth creation, which was shared during his visit to Ajuri Alebtong. Last week, President Museveni spent a week in Lango to evaluate the progress of the PDM fund in the region. 

While in Lango, he received commendations from both opposition members and those from the NRM party. ARDC Okello stated that Museveni's visit to Lango shows his commitment to the people of the region and his determination to help the community rise above poverty. He urged everyone to take advantage of the peace established by the NRM government.
