Napak RDC Milton Odongo Hails Karamoja For over 90 Precent Vote to Museveni, As He Praised Ex- MP Apun ( RIP) As A Peace Maker

Napak District, Uganda: The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Napak, Milton Odongo, has called on the newly elected leaders of the Karamoja sub-region to prioritize unity and foster collaboration with the government to accelerate development in their areas.

Speaking during the funeral service today at Bokora county in Napak District of the late Hon. Patrick Apun, former Member of Parliament for Bokora County, RDC Odongo emphasized the importance of transcending political divisions for the greater good of the community. "As leaders, your primary responsibility is to serve your people and work together in promoting sustainable development. Let us rise above political differences and focus on the collective welfare of our people," he urged.

He also appealed to the leaders to honor the mandate given to them by their constituents by choosing development-oriented leadership and fostering peace in the region. "Your election is a trust from the people; therefore, your actions should reflect their aspirations for progress and unity," Odongo added.

On the recent general elections, the RDC commended the people of Karamoja for their overwhelming support for President Yoweri Museveni, noting it as a vote of confidence in his leadership and development programs. "The people’s support for President Museveni demonstrates their belief in his vision for Uganda’s growth, especially in ensuring peace and economic development in regions like Karamoja," he said.

In mourning the passing of Hon. Akun, Odongo described him as a peace-maker whose contributions to Uganda’s parliament and nation-building will be remembered in history. "Hon. Akun was a dedicated leader who played a significant role in the peace process, particularly in bringing together the Teso, Lango, Acholi, and Karamoja regions through reconciliation efforts," Odongo highlighted.

He recalled how Akun’s efforts in advocating for peace and unity helped to restore stability in these regions, which had experienced decades of conflict. "His legacy of peace and reconciliation serves as an inspiration for current and future leaders," Odongo stated.

Odongo challenged the people to emulate Hon. Akun’s legacy of peace, unity, and service. "Let us honor his memory by working tirelessly for the development and harmony of our communities," he concluded.

The funeral was attended by several dignitaries, community members, and political leaders, all paying tribute to a leader who dedicated his life to peace and national service.
