LIRA DISTRICT IN FULL SUPPORT OF PLU GEN . MK SAYS DEPUTY SPEAKER ANGWECH ENGOLA

Lira District Leader Joins Mobilisation Drive for Muhoozi’s 2031 Bid,

LIRA CITY, UGANDA — Political mobilisation around Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 2031 presidential ambitions is gaining activity in the Lango sub-region, with a Lira District political and female workers’ leader, Hon. Angwech, saying he has been engaging young people and other grassroots actors in support of the initiative.

Speaking to this news website by telephone, Hon. Angwech, whom he described as an NRM cadre and leader of workers in Lira District, said a series of meetings with youth had been held as part of efforts to mobilise support for Gen. Kainerugaba.

“We have been meeting the youth and mobilising them to support Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s presidential bid,” Hon. Angwech said.

He described Gen. Kainerugaba as a leader he believes can advance an anti-corruption agenda and urged Ugandans, particularly young people, to consider his political vision.

The mobilisation comes amid a wider national endorsement exercise being conducted by the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), which has been rallying support for Gen. Kainerugaba ahead of the 2031 presidential election. PLU has reported endorsement activities in several parts of the country, while media reports have documented a broader nationwide mobilisation campaign.

Gen. Kainerugaba, who is Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, has publicly indicated that he intends to contest for president in 2031. His political supporters have subsequently stepped up activities aimed at building grassroots structures and gathering endorsements for his potential candidacy.

In Lango, the latest mobilisation efforts are expected to focus on grassroots engagement, particularly among young people and local leaders.

Hon. Angwech said supporters in the region would continue explaining what they consider to be Gen. Kainerugaba’s political agenda while encouraging citizens to participate in discussions about Uganda’s future leadership.

She also as well appealed to come in big number and attend the regional PLU Launch will be held in Lira City on Sunday in grand celebration.
