My Uncle Afande Saleh Asked Me To Forgive Gen Otafiire But I Told Him We Are Tired – Muhoozi Tells
Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has revealed that his great-uncle, Gen Salim Saleh, asked him to forgive Minister of Water and Environment Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Kahinda Otafiire amid their escalating public disagreement.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Muhoozi said he had spoken to Saleh, who reportedly intervened and urged him to put aside his differences with the veteran politician.
"I have just spoken to my great uncle, Afande Saleh, he asked me to forgive Otafiire," Muhoozi wrote, revealing details of the conversation.
However, the army chief indicated that he was not ready to accept the appeal, accusing unemployed young men of spending their time insulting him and his supporters.
"I told Afande Saleh, that we are TIRED of unemployed bagurusi who spend their time abusing us," Muhoozi added.
He further declared that he intended to bring the ongoing disagreement to a definitive conclusion, warning that he and his side would deal with the matter once and for all.
"We are going to deal with this issue once and for all!" he posted.
The latest remarks come amid a heated exchange between Muhoozi and Otafiire, following comments the minister reportedly made in Parliament and at a public lecture in Bushenyi. Muhoozi had demanded an apology and issued threats of arrest against the veteran politician.
Saleh's reported intervention introduces another development in the dispute, although it remains unclear whether his appeal will lead to reconciliation or whether the confrontation between the two senior figures will continue.
