Brooks Pre-School Lira Introduces Termly Parents’ Day, Lets Parents Step Into Teachers’ Shoes

LIRA CITY, UGANDA — Brooks Pre-Schoola leading private school in Lira City has introduced a Parents’ Day programme that allows parents to experience classroom teaching and participate in school activities, in an initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation between families and the school.

During the event held on Tuesday this week, parents took on different roles across the school, including acting as teachers in classrooms and experiencing responsibilities in various offices, from the security department to the director’s office, under the formal supervision of the school management.

The programme also featured outdoor activities that brought parents, teachers and learners together, promoting teamwork, interaction and shared responsibility in early childhood education.

The school’s lead teacher, Ms Sandra Adongo appreciated parents for turning up to witness and participate in the programme, describing their involvement as important in building a stronger relationship between home and school.

“I sincerely thank all the parents who turned up on Tuesday to witness and actively participate in this programme. Your presence and willingness to step into the shoes of teachers and other school staff demonstrate your commitment to your children’s education. We value this partnership, and we believe that working together will create a better learning environment for our children,” the lead teacher said.

She added that the initiative would become a regular feature on the school calendar, with Parents’ Day held once every school term to give more parents opportunities to participate in school activities and understand the daily responsibilities of teachers and other staff members.

The programme seeks to help parents appreciate the patience, dedication and teamwork required to manage classrooms and support young learners while encouraging stronger communication between teachers and families.

Through the initiative, Brooks Pre-School aims to make parental involvement more practical and meaningful, allowing families to become active partners in their children’s educational journey.

The programme reinforces the message that educating a child is a shared responsibility between parents and teachers.

Brooks Pre-School Lira is located along Police road in Junior Quarters in Lira City.
