Lira City woman MP ACENG Commissions Water Supply To Transform Community Lives In Lira City East

Lira, Uganda – Residents of Te-Obwolo B in Lira City East Division have praised their woman member of Parliament for Lira City , Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng for providing them with clean and reliable water supply. 

Speaking during the commissioning of the water point which is serving hundreds of communities in Teobwolo B, Felix Opito the area local chairperson said before Dr. Aceng helped to repair the water point, they use to share water with animals putting their lives at risk.

Opito now they are enjoying and accessing clean as result of the efforts of their dedicated leaders to construct it.

Much he appreciates Dr. Aceng appealed to her to extend the support to the nearest villages who are also facing challenges of inadequate water supply.

Dr. JANE Ruth Aceng who was so impressed with the community support thanked them for being loyal to her government and her leadership.

She assured them of her endless support to ensure residents of Lira CITY get better social services in all sectors. 

She also promised to lobby for more support for the people of Lira City.

“I implore you to continue praying to God to bless all of us, i assured you that with God, we shall be able to provide and construct another borehole for the community of Teobwolo A, I have heard their concerns over lack of clean water supply.

The newly commissioned water supply will improve security for women and public health. 

The initiative is expected to alleviate the challenges faced by the community, particularly women and children, who often bear the burden of traveling long distances to fetch water from unsafe sources.

Dr. Aceng also further emphasized the importance of clean water in preventing waterborne diseases and improving overall community well-being. 

“Access to clean water is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of public health. This project will not only save lives but also empower the people of Lira to lead healthier and more productive lives,” she stated.

Residents of Lira expressed their gratitude for the initiative, highlighting the transformative impact it will have on their daily lives. “We have struggled for years to find clean water. This project is a blessing to our community,” said one local resident.

Since her election in 2021 as a first woman MP for Lira City, Dr. Aceng has collaborated with the government of Uganda and private sectors to provide impactful community projects in Lira City in all sectors.

This publication has learnt that in promoting clean and reliable water supply More 100 boreholes have been constructed to community in the periurban areas to help communities who have been facing challenges of clean water supply.
