SAD NEWS! Lira Catholic Diocese Mourns the Passing of Reverend Ponsiano Okalo (RIP) – The Luo Natives

Lira Diocese: The spiritual community in Lira is mourning the loss of Reverend Fr. Ponsiano Okalo, Vicar for the Clergy of Lira Diocese, whose recent passing has left a void in the hearts of many. Known for his unwavering dedication, humility, and compassion, Fr. Ponsiano was a beloved figure whose influence extended beyond his parish.
Bishop Wanok of Lira Diocese expressed heartfelt condolences, reflecting on the profound impact the priest had on the community. In a statement released today, Bishop Wanok said, "Fr. Ponsiano passed away on Friday night around 11:30 PM at St. John XXIII Hospital Aber after a short illness. His humility, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his parishioners leave behind a legacy that will inspire us for generations."
At the time of his passing, Fr. Ponsiano Okalo was serving as the Curate of Ober Catholic Parish and was also a Lecturer at Lira University.
The funeral arrangements are yet to be announced, but the community has already begun to celebrate the life of a man whose faith and service will be dearly missed. His dedication to the spiritual and academic growth of those around him leaves a lasting legacy.
