Otwal LC3 Hopeful Jimmy Olot Endorses Museveni, Calls for United Support Ahead of Polls

OYAM – As the 2026 general elections draw closer, Jimmy K. Olot, the LC3 Chairperson hopeful for Otwal Sub-County in Oyam District, has publicly appealed to his supporters and residents across the Lango sub-region to vote for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Speaking to journalists at Hotel Good News on December 31, 2025, during his end-of-year address, Olot—popularly known as JK—stated that among the eight presidential candidates, the NRM flag bearer remains the most capable leader to steer and develop Uganda.

“Ugandans should learn from the past and give President Museveni another opportunity to offer his leadership skills,” Olot said. “Museveni is the best striker—tested, proven, available, and reliable.”

Olot also emphasized the importance of peaceful elections, urging citizens to participate responsibly in the electoral process.

In his parliamentary advisory, Olot declined to direct supporters on specific candidates but encouraged voters to scrutinize the character and personality of those running. He stressed, however, that elected leaders should remain loyal to the President.

He particularly praised Jane Francis Acilo, the Oyam Woman MP candidate, describing her as a practical and innovative leader whose poverty-alleviation initiatives are already yielding positive results in the district.

**Excerpts from Olot’s Media Statement:**

“As one of the stakeholders vying for the position of Chairperson of LC3 in Otwal Sub-County, I call upon all residents to make informed decisions when choosing our leaders. Elect a leader who is humble, tested, proven, and ready to bring meaningful development to our area.

I offer myself as such a leader—committed to uplifting Otwal Sub-County, which is currently ranked among the poorest in the region. I believe in working together to create opportunities, improve infrastructure, and foster unity among our people.

To my fellow youth, as you prepare to vote for me, I remind you of our shared promise to support Mzee YK Kaguta and to protect the gains made under his leadership. Your vote is crucial in sustaining progress and ensuring stability.

Looking ahead, on the 15th of January, let us honor our commitments by voting for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Your vote should reflect performance and commitment; avoid spoiling your vote by choosing non-performing candidates.

Together, let us build a brighter, more prosperous Otwal and Uganda.”

Jimmy K. Olot, who is running as an independent candidate, is positioning himself as a grassroots-focused leader dedicated to local development while aligning closely with the national leadership of the NRM.

The elections for presidential positions are set for January 15, 2026, with campaigns gaining momentum across the region.
