My Husband Left Village for Kampala Two Weeks Ago to Spend Time in Prayer & Has Not Returned Since – Gen Elwelu’s Wife Speaks

Patricia Apolot, a Ugandan kickboxer and wife of retired Lieutenant General Peter Elwelu, has spoken about her husband's whereabouts, revealing that he left their village home for Kampala about two weeks ago and has not returned since. Her remarks come amid growing public attention surrounding the former senior UPDF officer and reports about his disappearance from his usual surroundings.

According to Apolot, her husband's decision to spend an extended period away from home was not unusual because he regularly dedicates time to prayer. She explained that Elwelu sometimes spends one or even two weeks praying, suggesting that his latest absence could be connected to his religious activities.

However, the prolonged absence has attracted attention because of the circumstances surrounding Elwelu's recent withdrawal from public life. Neighbours and family members have reportedly said that the retired general had gradually stopped attending community gatherings and family functions several months ago.

Some people close to the family have claimed that Elwelu became increasingly cautious after allegedly learning that security operatives wanted to kill him on orders from senior authorities. However, these claims have not been independently established, and the circumstances surrounding his current whereabouts remain unclear.

Other accounts suggest that Elwelu left his home in Anyara Sub-county, Kalaki District, before the January elections. This would mean that his absence from the village began long before the latest public statements by Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba concerning the retired general.

Meanwhile, people familiar with Elwelu's church activities have revealed that he previously announced to congregants that he was closing Elohim Church. However, it remains unclear what prompted the announcement, whether the closure was permanent or whether it was connected to the developments surrounding his personal circumstances.

Apolot's revelation has now added another dimension to the mystery surrounding the former army officer, particularly as different accounts continue to emerge about when he left home and why he has remained away.
