Pakistan Association Uganda Lira Participates In National Cleaning Exercise As G.C.W Dr. Jane Aceng & Minister Baryomunsi Lead

LIRA CITY, UGANDA— The Pakistan Association Uganda (Lira Chapter) under Main Muhammad Nasir has demonstrated its commitment to environmental protection and community development by actively participating in the 4th National Cleaning Day exercise in Lira City.

The cleanup was led by Government Chief Whip Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero (who also serves as the Lira City Woman Member of Parliament) and Minister of Health Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi.

The exercise brought together community members, local leaders, stakeholders, and international organizations in a collective effort to promote environmental cleanliness, improve public hygiene, and foster a healthier living space for residents.

The active participation of the Pakistan Association Uganda highlighted the growing importance of international friendship, grassroots community partnerships, and shared responsibility in addressing public health and environmental challenges. Ahead of the exercise, the association also donated vital cleaning materials, including t-shirts and rubbish collection sacks, to support the local efforts.

The national cleaning campaign, spearheaded by the government and championed locally by Dr. Aceng and Dr. Baryomunsi, underscores the need for local communities to take full ownership of sanitation through proper waste disposal, regular cleaning of public spaces, and responsible eco-friendly habits.

By volunteering alongside local residents, members of the Pakistan Association Uganda demonstrated that maintaining community health is not solely a government obligation, but a collective civic duty that requires everyone’s active involvement.

The presence of the association added a vital international dimension to the exercise, reflecting the ongoing and valuable contributions of global expatriate communities and organizations to Uganda's domestic development agenda.

Several government bodies, including the National Planning Authority and local city councils, joined various public officials and security agencies to ensure the cleanup was a success.

The strategic national event was organized as part of a broader push to keep Lira City clean and hygienic, especially as it prepares its infrastructure and the Akii-Bua Olympic Stadium to host international guests for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
