Some Of The Strongest Supporters Of PLU Are Women. They Are Fearless Fighters- Gen Muhoozi Announces Plans To Form A Women's League Of PLU
Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has announced plans to establish a Women's League within the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), praising female supporters for their commitment and contribution to the organisation.
In a statement, Muhoozi described women as some of the strongest supporters of PLU, saying they had demonstrated courage and determination in standing with the organisation. He particularly praised their fearless nature, noting that their contribution had not gone unnoticed.
"Some of the strongest supporters of PLU are women. They are fearless fighters. I have decided to form a Women's League of PLU. I shall announce the chairwoman soon," Muhoozi stated.
His announcement signals a plan to create a dedicated structure through which women supporting PLU can organise themselves and participate in the organisation's activities. The proposed league is expected to provide a platform for female supporters to coordinate their efforts under a recognised leadership structure.
Although Muhoozi has not yet revealed how the Women's League will operate, his decision to appoint a chairwoman suggests that the new structure will have its own leadership. The person selected will be expected to guide its activities and represent the interests of women within the organisation.
The development also draws attention to the role women play in supporting political and civic movements across Uganda. Through mobilisation, community engagement and other activities, female supporters contribute to building organisational networks and connecting movements with communities.
PLU has continued to attract supporters from different sections of society, and the proposed Women's League would introduce another organised platform for its female members. Further details about its responsibilities, leadership arrangements and planned activities are yet to be communicated.
Attention is now on Muhoozi's next announcement, particularly the identity of the woman who will become the first chairwoman of the proposed PLU Women's League. Her appointment is expected to provide more clarity about the organisation's plans for bringing its female supporters together.
