I Have Told Our Soldiers Not to Kill Elweru but to Bring Him to Me Alive. I Want to Talk to Him – Gen Muhoozi Orders

Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has reportedly instructed soldiers not to kill former Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Gen Peter Elwelu, but instead to bring him to him alive because he wants to speak with him. The reported order has attracted attention amid ongoing public exchanges and allegations involving the former senior military officer.

“I have told our soldiers not to kill Elweru but to bring him to me alive. I want to talk to him,” Muhoozi said in the reported statement. His remarks suggest that he wants an opportunity to meet Elwelu personally, although he has not publicly explained what he intends to discuss with him.

The statement comes amid heightened attention surrounding Elwelu and claims about his alleged activities. However, the details surrounding the reported instruction, including whether security agencies have formally launched an operation to locate him, remain unclear.

Elwelu previously served as Uganda’s Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, holding one of the most senior positions in the military hierarchy. During his career, he became a prominent figure in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces before leaving the position following changes in military leadership.

Muhoozi’s reported remarks have raised questions about the nature of the disagreement involving the former commander and why the CDF wants to speak to him directly. No detailed explanation of the intended meeting has been provided in the reported statement.

The developments also come amid public exchanges involving individuals associated with the Patriotic League of Uganda and allegations concerning Elwelu. Such claims need to be distinguished from established facts, particularly where no verified evidence or formal legal findings have been made public.

The possibility of a direct meeting between the two military figures has attracted interest because of their positions within Uganda’s security establishment. Any official action involving a former senior commander is likely to raise questions about the procedures that security agencies would follow and the legal basis for their actions.

For now, Muhoozi’s reported message emphasises that he wants Elwelu brought to him alive for a conversation. Further clarification from the military leadership would help establish the circumstances behind the order, the nature of the intended discussion and whether any formal action has been taken.
