From Wife Anita Among To Husband! New Drama As Corruption Haunts Moses Magogo

Fresh trouble is emerging for Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) president Moses Magogo after the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) launched an investigation into allegations of mismanagement of public funds at the football governing body. The inquiry has placed FUFA’s finances, properties, procurement processes and commercial deals under scrutiny, with investigators demanding records covering several years. The probe comes as Magogo continues to lead the federation while his wife, Anita Among, serves as Speaker of Parliament.

In a letter dated September 14, 2026, Inspector General of Government Aisha Naluzze Batala directed FUFA’s chief executive officer to submit extensive financial and operational documents. The letter, received at FUFA House in Mengo on September 22, states that the investigation concerns allegations of mismanagement of public funds by FUFA officials. The allegations remain under investigation and do not, on their own, establish that Magogo or any other official committed wrongdoing.

The IGG has requested FUFA’s statutes, Executive Committee meeting minutes, bank account details and audited financial statements dating back to 2016. Investigators also want information about public grants received from the National Council of Sports, the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Ministry of Finance and other government agencies. The records are expected to show how much money FUFA received, what the funds were intended for and how the federation accounted for the expenditure.

One of the major areas of interest is Kadiba Stadium, a project whose development history the investigators want examined in detail. The IGG has requested land agreements, construction contracts, payment certificates, procurement records, engineering reports, bills of quantities and correspondence with FIFA. Investigators also want a breakdown of expenditure from the beginning of the project and an explanation for its non-completion. In August, FUFA handed the stadium to the National Council of Sports for further redevelopment ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The investigation also extends to properties associated with FUFA, including FUFA House in Mengo and the Technical Centre in Njeru. The federation has been asked to provide ownership documents, land transfer records, lease agreements and information showing how the properties were acquired and funded. Investigators are also examining procurement procedures and contracts awarded between July 2021 and June 2026, broadening the inquiry beyond the stadium project.

Commercial dealings involving FUFA have also attracted the IGG’s attention. The requested records include information about Scoreline Investments Ltd, FUFA Media Services Ltd and Satellite Plus Systems (U) Ltd, alongside broadcasting and naming-rights agreements with StarTimes. Investigators want to understand how commercial rights were valued and transferred, how revenue was shared, what payments were received and how the money was subsequently used.

The inquiry further covers accommodation arrangements for national teams, including the Uganda Cranes during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. FUFA has been asked to provide details of accommodation facilities, payments, FUFA Hotel Kisansi and FUFA Hospitality and Travel Agency Ltd. The IGG also wants proof of payments distributed to Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big League clubs from the 2018/19 season to date. Four authorised officers have been assigned to collect information and certified documents as part of the investigation.

The extensive document request puts FUFA’s financial management and accountability systems under increased scrutiny, although the investigation should not be mistaken for a finding of guilt. FUFA’s response to the specific questions raised will be important in establishing the facts, and the federation should have an opportunity to address the concerns. For Magogo, the probe presents a significant test of the institution he leads, with the eventual outcome depending on the evidence examined and the conclusions reached by the Inspectorate of Government.
