Hopefull Denis Oweka Promises to Empower Kilak North Through Government Collaboration

By Ambrose Ogwang

Amuru, Uganda : While attending a meeting between the Acholi community in Lango and the Ker Kwaro Acholi Paramount Chief, H.H. David Onen Acana II, Northern Uganda's renowned accountant Denis Oweka used the platform to declare his intention to unseat Kilak North County MP Anthony Akol in the Ugandan Parliament.

Oweka, who is now being viewed as Kilak's "David" in the Bible, told the gathering during his submissions before H.H. Acana that he will stand for the Kilak North County MP seat in 2026. He also sought blessings from his cultural leader.

Shortly after the meeting, the MP hopeful addressed a section of journalists, affirming his declaration to run for the MP seat under the NRM party. He stated that Kilak North has suffered from underdevelopment due to electing a politician who is anti-government and unable to collaborate with the government and the president to bring development to the region.

Oweka emphasized that his leadership will focus on reviving the education sector and promoting healthcare. Noting that the current MP has recently crossed to the NRM party, Oweka expressed confidence in defeating him in the primaries, citing his opponent's relative newness to the party.

Currently working at Lira University, Denis Oweka is seeking full approval from the NRM party. He is no stranger to leadership, having worked with NGOs in Northern Uganda and held several leadership positions in the country, including during his time as a university student.

With the current poltical tension in the country, Oweka being a loyal and dedicated carder is most likely to go through amidst shift competition.
