Acholi Community In Lango Visits Ker Kwaro Acholi Cultural Leader H.H David Onen Acana In Gulu

Gulu, Uganda: In a landmark event promoting cultural unity and the preservation of heritage, the Kwer Kwaro Acholi, the cultural institution of the Acholi people, hosted members of the Acholi community from the Lango sub-region.
Held at the Kwer Kwaro Acholi headquarters in Gulu, the gathering united elders, community members, and Acholi representatives from Lango, led by Jeffson Obalim. This milestone event celebrated shared traditions while addressing common challenges faced by the community.
Earlier in the day, team leaders met with the chief, setting the tone for the discussions that followed.
This gathering provided a platform to strengthen bonds and explore strategies for safeguarding their shared heritage amidst the pressures of modernization and globalization.
Cultural Unity in Focus Speaking to journalists, Jeffson Obalim, leader of the Acholi community in Lango, emphasized the significance of the visit: "It’s about showing love for our culture and building stronger ties between the Acholi people and their cultural leaders."
The Lango sub-region, predominantly home to the Lango ethnic group, also accommodates a notable Acholi population that migrated there over time. Despite integrating into the Lango region, the Acholi community has remarkably preserved its language, traditions, and cultural practices.
