Lira, Uganda: On Sunday at the Mayor’s Garden in Lira City after celebration of PLU Muhoozi Birthday, Alebtong District Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr Matthias Lutwama praised the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for his dedication to fighting corruption in Uganda without compromise.
Lutwama said the CDF’s stance against corruption has inspired many leaders and young people across the country, which is why he joined others in celebrating the general’s birthday through a 10-kilometre run.
The DRDC, who also participated in the run, thanked the youth from Alebtong District for turning up in large numbers. He specifically acknowledged Ambassador Rebecca Amuge Otengo for supporting the group by providing running kits that facilitated their participation.
He noted that celebrating a leader like Gen. Muhoozi provides an opportunity for citizens, especially the youth, to come together, interact, and brainstorm on national issues affecting Uganda.
Lutwama further applauded the CDF for promoting discipline and strong leadership within the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), saying such values are key to national development.
Lutwama, who led the Alebtong delegation alongside the NRM Youth League Chairperson for the district, Benjamin Otengo, pledged continued support in mobilizing young people to embrace government programs aimed at improving livelihoods.
In his address, Otengo commended the youth for sparing time to participate in the run, noting that such activities not only promote physical fitness but also foster unity and patriotism among Ugandans.
Otengo added that the involvement of young people in national events is a positive sign of growing civic engagement and commitment to the country’s development.
