Lira City West NRM Chair Tonny Olipa ( Olipa) Participates In PLU MK Birthday Marathon, Praises CDF Muhoozi
Lira, Uganda: Just like other National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders across the country, the Lira City West Division NRM leadership joined in celebrations marking the birthday of Muhoozi Kainerugaba, with the Lango sub-region hosting a special event at Mayor’s Garden in Lira City.
The Lira City West Division NRM party leader, Hon. Tonny Olipa, actively participated in the celebrations by leading a 10-kilometer run under the theme “Run for Change, Be the Change.” Dressed in a branded running kit bearing the same message, Olipa completed the route from Mayor’s Garden through Odokomit–Jinja Road and Uhuru Bar before returning to the starting point. He was joined by fellow party members, youth supporters, and community participants who turned up in significant numbers.
Speaking after the run, Olipa—known for his grassroots mobilisation—said his participation symbolized love, loyalty, and unwavering support for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. He commended Muhoozi for his contribution to national service, particularly his efforts to promote discipline, professionalism, and modernization within the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
“As a businessman and leader, I deeply value discipline and commitment—principles that Gen. Muhoozi continues to champion,” Olipa said. “Such dedication to serving the country is worth celebrating and emulating.”
Olipa also extended birthday wishes to Muhoozi and called upon NRM supporters in Lira City and beyond to adopt leadership values centered on integrity, patriotism, and accountability. He emphasized the importance of zero tolerance toward corruption, urging both public officials and private sector actors to uphold transparency in their work.
The celebrations in Lira City formed part of nationwide activities organized by NRM supporters and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) promoters. Events across the country included community runs, charity drives, public gatherings, and messages of solidarity aimed at honoring Muhoozi’s leadership and service.
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who also serves as the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and a key figure in the PLU, marked his 52nd birthday with activities that included marathon runs and charitable initiatives targeting vulnerable groups such as children in baby homes and orphanages. These efforts were aimed at mobilizing support and raising awareness about community welfare.
Muhoozi received widespread praise from supporters and political allies, many of whom described him as a decisive leader committed to fighting corruption and strengthening national institutions.
Born in 1974 during the regime of Idi Amin, Muhoozi has undergone extensive military training both locally and internationally. Over the years, he has held various command positions within the UPDF, contributing to national security and defense reforms.
