What Happened During The Confrontation! Moses Matovu’s Killer Had Questioned Why Tumusiime Was Bringing Other Men Into The House Yet He Was Paying Rent

New details have emerged about the confrontation that preceded the death of Afrigo Band icon Moses Matovu, with witnesses describing the words allegedly exchanged during the tense incident at a rented house in Kibuli.

According to an account from Rogers Tukamuhebwa, the defence secretary for Market A Zone and one of the first people to respond to the commotion, the suspect had been angry about what he believed was happening inside the room.

Tukamuhebwa said the man repeatedly shouted that he was the person paying rent for the room and questioned why Rose Tumusiime was bringing other men into the house.

The confrontation reportedly began in the early hours of Thursday when Tumusiime and Matovu were allegedly inside the rented room. The suspect is said to have arrived and knocked on the door.

According to the account, Tumusiime refused to open the door, after which the man allegedly became violent and attempted to force his way inside.

The suspect reportedly smashed windows and damaged the door during the confrontation. Through the broken windows, he allegedly saw Matovu inside the room, further escalating the situation.

Tumusiime reportedly told the man that Matovu was her father, but the explanation allegedly failed to calm him. The landlord later came out after hearing the commotion and reportedly asked the man to leave.

The man allegedly remained nearby and waited for Tumusiime and Matovu outside. When Tumusiime later escorted Matovu towards his vehicle, another confrontation reportedly occurred.

Tukamuhebwa said the man allegedly attacked Tumusiime, prompting Matovu to intervene. The suspect allegedly punched Matovu, causing him to fall and sustain a serious head injury. The veteran musician was rushed to Kibuli Hospital, where he later died.

Police are investigating the incident and have been working to establish what exactly happened before the fatal confrontation. The statements about the rent dispute and the alleged words spoken by the suspect remain part of witness accounts and have not, by themselves, established the motive or circumstances of Matovu’s death.
