Details!! Boyfriend Of Rose Tumusiime Who Reportedly Killed Afrigo Band Icon Moses Matovu Is A Security Guard

New details have emerged about the man police believe was involved in the confrontation that led to the death of Afrigo Band icon Moses Matovu in Kibuli, Kampala.

Police identified the main suspect as a man who was formerly in a relationship with Rose Tumusiime, the woman who was reportedly with Matovu shortly before the fatal confrontation.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect works with a private security company, although police initially said they were still verifying his employment details.

Police said the confrontation happened at about 5:30am on September 24, 2026, after Matovu and Tumusiime reportedly left her residence in Kibuli.

The suspect allegedly confronted the two, leading to a physical altercation between him and Matovu. The veteran musician sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kibuli Hospital on a boda boda, where he later died.

Tumusiime was subsequently taken into police custody to assist investigators as detectives worked to establish exactly what happened before, during and after the confrontation.

Police initially reported that the male suspect had fled the scene, prompting a manhunt involving detectives and intelligence teams.

However, later police reports indicated that the suspect had been identified as 41-year-old Vincent Nsamba. He was reportedly arrested in Ochange Ward, Yesu Amala, Nansana Division in Wakiso District following a joint police operation.

Police have said forensic teams and detectives are continuing to examine evidence from the scene and reconstruct the events that led to Matovu's death.

The exact circumstances and motive remain subject to the ongoing investigation. Police have also stressed that preliminary findings do not yet provide a complete account of what happened during the confrontation.

Matovu, who was 77, was a founding member and longtime leader of Afrigo Band.
