Muhoozi Elevates Nuwagira, Calls Him a Great Leader, Declares Him His Deputy in All His Political Related issues

Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has publicly praised Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) National Vice Chairman Michael Nuwagira, popularly known as Toyota, describing him as a remarkable leader and a key figure in political matters.

Muhoozi made the remarks while speaking about Nuwagira’s role and contribution to the political activities surrounding the PLU, where he serves as the National Vice Chairman. PLU’s current leadership structure lists Nuwagira as the movement’s National Vice Chairman.

Speaking about his deputy, Muhoozi said Nuwagira was a leader whose qualities and contribution stood out from what he had seen before, using strong words to underline the confidence he has in him.

“Vice Chairman Nuwagira has never been seen before. A very great leader,” Muhoozi said, in remarks that highlighted his appreciation of Nuwagira’s leadership.

Muhoozi went further to explain the specific role Nuwagira plays in his political affairs, describing him as his deputy when it comes to matters concerning politics.

“He is my Deputy in all things to do with politics,” Muhoozi stated, placing Nuwagira at the centre of the political responsibilities associated with his leadership.

Nuwagira has already played visible roles within the PLU leadership. In June 2026, Muhoozi directed him to organise the formal handover between outgoing Secretary General David Kabanda and his successor Fadil Twalla.

Nuwagira also represented Muhoozi at the PLU leadership handover ceremony held at the organisation’s headquarters in Naguru, where he supervised the proceedings attended by senior political and government figures.

The latest remarks therefore draw further attention to Nuwagira’s position within Muhoozi’s political organisation. His role as National Vice Chairman places him among the senior figures responsible for coordinating and supporting the movement’s leadership activities.

By publicly describing Nuwagira as his deputy in political matters, Muhoozi has provided a clear indication of the importance he attaches to the National Vice Chairman and his involvement in the political side of the PLU’s work.
