Lira, Uganda – As the new school year begins, Hill City College, a leading private secondary school in Lira City, Northern Uganda, has announced an exciting bursary scheme for outstanding students. The college will offer full scholarships to the best performing PLE (Primary Leaving Examination) candidates joining Senior One.

Addressing the media at the school located in Ayago, Lira City West Division, Emmanuel Akeny, the Chief Executive Director of Hill City College, confirmed the initiative. He stated that students who scored an aggregate of 4 to 6 in their PLE exams of 2025 will join Senior One entirely free of charge. Students with scores between 6 and 12 will pay half of the school fees.

The bursary program is designed to motivate students to excel. The top performers will not pay any school fees in Term One, and the bursary will be renewable based on continued outstanding performance throughout the academic year. This initiative aims to reward excellence, encourage high academic standards, and support talented students to achieve their full potential.

Opportunities for Enrollment

Akeny urged parents to seize this opportunity to enroll their children at Hill City College. The school is currently admitting students for Senior One and other classes, including Senior Two up to Senior Five for new students.

Hill City College Lira has a proven track record of academic excellence, consistently ranking among the top-performing schools in the Greater North in both UCE (Uganda Certificate of Education) and UACE (Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education) examinations. The school boasts a conducive learning environment, modern facilities, and a dedicated team of teachers committed to student development and success.

Speaking about the upcoming reopening scheduled for February 10th, 2026, as directed by the government, Mr. Akeny confirmed that the school is fully prepared to begin classes on time. He emphasized that the school has put in place all necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth start to the new academic year, including enrollment of new students and reintegration of returning students.
