Last week, H.H. Ogwal Oyee made significant changes to his cabinet. The reshuffle is seen as part of ongoing efforts to stabilize and reorganize the cultural institution.
Speaking during the joint press conference, Dr. Richard Nam explained why he accepted the appointment and expressed optimism about the future of the foundation. He said the leadership is committed to maintaining the strong legacy established by the Lango community under the late **Yosam Odur Ebii.
Dr. Nam emphasized that before his passing, Mzee Yosam Odur Ebii urged leaders to safeguard the Lango cultural heritage and ensure that opportunistic individuals do not derail the institution’s mission. He noted that the current leadership is determined to honor that vision.
He further revealed that the foundation will soon release a clear roadmap for the election of a new **Won Nyaci (Paramount Chief) of Lango**, a process expected to restore stability and legitimacy within the institution.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs, Felix Adupa Ongwech, also welcomed his appointment and called for reconciliation among rival factions within the Lango Cultural Foundation. He stated that the leadership remains open to dialogue with the **Okune faction**, provided the engagement is based on goodwill and mutual respect.
He also praised for voting for Museveni wsrned some leaders who are claiming victory, People overwhelmingly supporting President Museveni because of trust and love, no one should claim its responsibility.
Adupa added that in his new role, he plans to engage with the government and other stakeholders to advance the Lango agenda, including cultural preservation and regional development.
He cautioned individuals who benefit from ongoing disputes to step aside and allow unity and progress to take center stage. Adupa also disclosed that the Okune faction has indicated in court that they prefer reconciliation over prolonged legal battles—an approach the current leadership is willing to consider under agreed terms and conditions.
The leaders concluded by reiterating their commitment to peace, unity, and the preservation of Lango’s cultural identity, urging all stakeholders to work together for the good of the community.
