Kole District, Uganda – Jubilant scenes filled Akalo and the wider Lango sub-region on Friday as Wisdom High School celebrated an outstanding performance in the 2025 Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations.

A total of 247 candidates from the school sat for the 2025 UCE exams, and all 247 passed with impressive grades of A, B, and C, setting a new benchmark for academic excellence in Kole District. Education stakeholders described the achievement as proof that top academic performance is not limited to schools in major cities.

According to the official UNEB results, Wisdom High School registered exceptional performance particularly in the **science subjects**, aligning with the Government of Uganda’s emphasis on strengthening science education under the new lower secondary curriculum.

Parents, teachers, students, and members of the community gathered at the school premises in front of the Director’s office to celebrate the milestone. The atmosphere was filled with joy as students sang congratulatory gospel songs while lifting the school’s top UCE performer, who excelled especially in the sciences.

The best-performing candidate scored five As and Bs, emerging as one of the leading science students.

Speaking during the celebration, top student Walter Ojok expressed gratitude to the school administration and teachers for their dedication.

“I thank Wisdom High School for guiding and supporting us throughout the journey. The discipline and encouragement from our teachers made a big difference,” he said.

Delivering the official statement, the Chief Executive Director and founder, Mr. Ambrose Ogwal, praised parents and the broader communities of Northern, Eastern, and other parts of Uganda for their continued support.

Ogwal particularly commended the teachers for effectively implementing the new curriculum and preparing students to adapt to its competence-based assessment approach.

“Passing is no longer something to be proud of under the new curriculum. Our motto is ‘Wisdom for Excellence,' and we are happy that our students have truly excelled,” Ogwal said.

He attributed the success to:

* High levels of discipline among students

* Adequate laboratory facilities and improved learning infrastructure

* Continuous teacher training on the new curriculum

* Strong cooperation between parents and school administration

He further revealed that the school aims to rank among the top 20 schools in Uganda within the coming years.

According to UNEB, 428,628 candidates , representing 99.69% of those who sat for the 2025 examinations, qualified for the Uganda Certificate of Education. This marks an increase from **98.1% in 2024**, reflecting nationwide improvement under the new curriculum framework.

In 2024, Wisdom High School presented 148 candidates for the UCE examinations under the new curriculum, making the 2025 results a significant step forward in both candidature and performance.

The school administration confirmed that the strong performance means all its 2025 candidates qualify for Advanced Level (A-Level) education. Admissions have now been opened for Senior One and Senior Five classes as the institution prepares to welcome a new cohort of learners.

As celebrations continue across Akalo and the Lango region, Wisdom High School’s achievement stands as a testament to the growing academic strength of schools in rural Uganda and the positive impact of curriculum reforms on learner outcomes.
