Mentor Secondary School, Akwoyo Campus in Lira City, has achieved remarkable success by ranking top in the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations across the Lira region for 2025.

This outstanding performance highlights the school's commitment to academic excellence and community development.

According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) rankings, Mentor Secondary School registered an exceptional performance in the 2025 exams, placing it ahead of other secondary schools in the Lira. The school presented a total of 180 candidates, all of whom achieved a perfect pass rate—a feat that underscores the school's dedication to quality education.

Notably, the majority of students scored top-tier grades of A, B, and C in all subjects. This impressive academic record reflects the school's rigorous preparation, dedicated teaching staff, and disciplined student body.

Headteacher John Augustus Akwar credited the success to the commitment of both students and teachers. “The success we are celebrating today is the fruit of hard work from our learners and our dedicated staff, who have poured their hearts into ensuring academic excellence,” Akwar emphasized.

He further stated, “At Mentor, we are not just preparing students for exams; we are serving the Lango community and Uganda at large by nurturing young people who will become the leaders of tomorrow. Our mission extends beyond academics to shaping responsible citizens.”

Akwar also highlighted the school's consistent progress over the years, noting that since its founding, Mentor Secondary School has maintained a steady upward trajectory in performance, with no signs of decline. He expressed confidence that the 2026 results would be even more impressive as the institution continues to adapt to the new competency-based curriculum introduced by UNEB.

Furthermore, Mentor Secondary School, Akwoyo Campus, has become one of the most preferred educational institutions for parents in Northern Uganda, thanks to its reputation for providing quality education at an affordable cost. This has contributed to increased enrollment and community trust.

Speaking to this publication, Mr. Geoffrey Odur, a prominent educationist and school director praised the Lango community and Northern Uganda for embracing the school. He attributed the school's success to strong collaboration between teachers, students, parents, and community stakeholders, as well as relentless hard work.

Odur concluded by encouraging other schools in the region to emulate Mentor's model of excellence and community engagement to foster further educational development in Northern Uganda.
