Apac Municipal NRM MP Candidate, Nyekon Isaac Odongo Rallied for Museveni As He Takes Commanding Lead
APAC MUNICIPALITY – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate for Apac Municipality, Nekyon Isaac Odongo, is calling on the people of Apac and the wider Lango sub-region to give strong support to President Yoweri Museveni in the upcoming general elections on January 15, 2026.
Odongo, who is said to hold a strong lead in the Apac Municipal parliamentary race, pointed to several development projects as proof of the President’s commitment to Lango. These include the improved Akiibua, Apac, and Lira–Puranga roads.
For weeks, Nekyon has been actively campaigning not just for himself, but also for the NRM’s presidential candidate, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and other party candidates. Instead of focusing only on local issues, he has closely tied his campaign to the President’s national agenda.
“The people’s trust in President Museveni and the NRM is strong,” said Nekyon. “My lead in this race shows that trust. I am not just asking you to vote for me—I am asking you to support the President’s work by electing a reliable representative who can deliver for Apac.”
Campaign insiders and observers say Nekyon’s growing support comes from this clear alignment with the NRM and President Museveni.
His opponents, including the current MP Patrick Ocan and UPC candidate Maxwell Akora, have found it difficult to challenge this message. They have faced questions about their own records and what they have achieved while in office.
The situation in Apac reflects a common trend in Ugandan politics, where support for a popular national leader can boost local candidates. Nekyon’s lead suggests that many voters believe having an MP connected to the ruling party will bring more benefits to the area.
