Popular Kioga FM Broadcaster Morish Olum Orech Appeals for Support Amid Health Battle

Amolatar, Uganda – July 2025

Morish Olum Orech , Aka Awitong a beloved broadcaster at Kioga FM 88.7 in Amolatar, is reaching out to well-wishers for financial assistance following his diagnosis with a thyroid condition.

Olum, known for his vibrant voice and community-focused reporting, was recently admitted to Lira Regional Referral Hospital after experiencing severe neck swelling and pain.

A Shocking Diagnosis

Medical tests, including an advanced ultrasound scan, revealed that Olum is battling bilateral Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an autoimmune disorder causing inflammation of the thyroid gland.

The scan also showed multiple enlarged lymph nodes in his neck, further complicating his condition. Despite the challenges, doctors have assured that with proper treatment and medication, Olum can recover fully.

A Call for Help

While Olum remains optimistic, the cost of treatment and medication has become a heavy burden. As a dedicated journalist who has served the Amolatar community for years, he is now humbly appealing to friends, listeners, and well-wishers for financial support.

“I am grateful for the medical team’s care, but I need help to cover the bills,” Olum shared. “Any contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in helping me return to good health and back to the airwaves where I belong.”
