Good News To Ugandans As Museveni’s Gov’t Announces 2,000 Jobs, Here Are The Details
Ugandans seeking employment in the health sector have received a new opportunity after the Health Service Commission (HSC) announced a recruitment exercise for more than 2,000 positions across government hospitals and specialised health institutions. The exercise is intended to strengthen staffing levels and improve the delivery of healthcare services across the country.
Allan Sempebwa, the Ministry of Health spokesperson, announced the recruitment and encouraged suitably qualified Ugandans to apply. The vacancies are contained in the Health Service Commission’s External Advert No. 2 of October 2026, published in *New Vision* on Monday, October 26.
The advertised positions cover the Ministry of Health headquarters and several major public health facilities, including Mulago National Referral Hospital, Butabika National Referral Mental Hospital, Kawempe National Referral Hospital, Kiruddu National Referral Hospital, and regional referral hospitals in Arua, Hoima, Mbarara, Gulu, Mbale, Kabale and Entebbe. Other facilities include hospitals in Lira, Soroti, Jinja, Masaka, Kayunga, Yumbe, Moroto and Fort Portal, as well as China-Uganda Friendship Hospital Naguru.
Additional vacancies are available in institutions such as Uganda Blood Transfusion Services, Uganda Prisons Service and the Uganda Virus Research Institute. Applicants are therefore encouraged to read the official advert carefully to identify positions that match their academic qualifications, professional training and work experience.
Applications must be submitted online through the Health Service Commission recruitment portal at https://hscers.ug or https://www.hscers.ug. Applicants are required to create an account or update an existing profile, search for suitable vacancies and upload the necessary supporting documents before submitting their applications.
The required documents include academic and professional certificates, evidence of specialised training where applicable, appointment and confirmation letters or promotion records where relevant, and a valid National or Constitutional Identity Card. Health professionals must also provide their registration certificates and valid practising licences. Applicants are advised to prepare a scanned passport-size photograph in JPEG format and complete Public Service Form 3 for use during oral interviews.
The commission has set November 16, 2026, as the deadline for applications, with each candidate allowed to apply for a maximum of two positions. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted for interviews, and those invited to oral interviews must present their original certificates and other relevant documents for verification.
The commission has also issued a warning to applicants against submitting forged academic or professional documents, saying anyone found with falsified papers will be handed over to the police. Health workers undertaking long-term training lasting one year or more have been advised not to apply. The commission further emphasised that its recruitment services are free of charge and that all qualified candidates have an equal opportunity to compete for the vacancies.
The recruitment drive offers an opportunity for qualified Ugandans to seek government employment while supporting efforts to improve healthcare services. Interested candidates should consult the official advert for the specific job titles, qualifications and application requirements, and submit their applications before the deadline. Applicants should also avoid anyone demanding money in exchange for securing a position, since the commission has clearly stated that its recruitment process is free.
