BIG STORY: Alebtong Ex-MP Christine Achen Ayo’s Comeback Gains Momentum as Voters Demand Change

Kampala, Uganda:The political landscape of Alebtong district is shifting as former Woman MP Christine Achen Ayo makes a strong return to the 2026 parliamentary race, drawing overwhelming support from the community.

Achen, who served in the 10th Parliament from 2016 to 2021, was widely regarded for her high level of representation. However, she lost her seat amidst what she described as politically motivated propaganda from her opponent. Now, she is actively engaging in grassroots consultations to reestablish her presence and reconnect with voters.

A committed member of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), Achen has declared her intention to reclaim the Alebtong Woman MP seat under the party’s ticket for the 2026–2031 term.

A native of Amugu Subcounty in Ajuri County, and married in Aloi Subcounty in Moroto County, Achen has been receiving widespread support from the electorate, with many promising to restore her to Parliament.

Speaking to this publication from Alebtong, Achen expressed her determination, stating that she is currently meeting her former agents and NRM party members to develop a strategic campaign plan ahead of the 2026 general election.

She warned that Alebtong is falling behind in development and urged residents to stand firm in protecting their votes.

Recognized for her activism and development work, Achen pledged to prioritize improvements in road infrastructure and the education sector through lobbying efforts.
