Lira, Uganda – Veteran politician Sam Engola has been declared unopposed in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) parish elections as he officially launches his bid for the position of Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda.

Sam Engola was declared unopposed in Awioodyek parish, Lira District, the party assured him of the votes for both chairman NRM Lira District and the regional vice.

Engola, a former State Minister for Housing and ex-Member of Parliament for Erute County South, has long been a key figure in the region’s political landscape. His unchallenged victory in the parish elections signals strong grassroots support for his leadership ambitions.

Speaking at his campaign launch, Engola reflected on the challenges he faced in previous elections, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, which significantly impacted his ability to reach voters. He emphasized his commitment to addressing poverty, unemployment, and infrastructure development in Northern Uganda.
