Lira Drivers Seek To Meet Speaker  Among As She  Prepares To be In Lango Over the Weekend

The Lira City Drivers Union, which represents all drivers in the Lango sub-region, has given a shout-out to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Honourable Annet Anite Among, for her outstanding leadership that has fostered peace in Parliament. They also recognized Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng for her effective leadership in Lira District. 

During a meeting with journalists in Lira City, Benard Anyeko Masanga, the union's spokesperson, described Speaker Among as a remarkable leader, mother, and mentor whose skills motivate many to pursue development. 

As someone in the transport industry, Mr. Anyeko specifically thanked the Speaker for her ongoing support, mentioning a recent regional parliament meeting in Acholi where she uplifted those in the transport sector in Gulu. He also highlighted her efforts in advocating for the construction of the Akiibua Memorial Stadium and the completion of the Karuma Bridge which was all approved during her leadership as a speaker of Parliament which are crucial for the transport industry in the Lango sub-region. 

Additionally, he commended Speaker Annet for her contributions to education, particularly for establishing a school in the Teso sub-region that currently trains students from Northern and Eastern Uganda to become professional health officers. 

As Speaker Annet Anita Among prepares to visit Lango for the Bodaboda festival in Lira City, the Lira City Drivers Union is eager to meet with her through their local woman MP, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero. Mr. Anyeko confirmed that they have sent a request to meet the Speaker via Dr. Aceng. 

He expressed their desire to discuss developmental issues and share the challenges they face in the transport sector, hoping her office can help address these concerns.

The group also as a beneficiary of Emyooga funds thanked president Museveni for the support and the wise leadership.

He pledged to remain to committed and supportive to NRM government and president Museveni including mobilisation of votes in 2026.

Anyeko also urged the speaker to support their projects of promoting and youth with skills to earn a living a they have begun with ICT programs, road safety awareness and motovechicle maintenance.
