LIRA DOICESE: Minister ACENG Supports The newly elevated St Peter Anai Catholic Parish with 20M Ugx Cash

Lira, Uganda; The Luo Natives | Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the Minister of Health and the woman MP for Lira City, has generously donated 20 million Ugandan shillings to the newly upgraded Anai Catholic local parish in the Lira Diocese to support church development.
She delivered donation during a ceremony at the parish headquarters in the West Division of Lira, along the Lira-Apac High Road.
While handing over the funds to the Bishop of Lira Diocese, Rt. Rev. Santus Lino Wanok, Dr. Aceng, a devoted leader, expressed her gratitude to the Catholic community and the residents of Lira City for their commitment to faith in their daily lives.
Dr. Aceng emphasized that developing a church is a collective responsibility and encouraged everyone to come together to foster peace and love within the church community. Her donation of 20 million Ugandan shillings also aims to inspire other Christians to contribute.
The ceremony was meant to officially start the operation of the newly created Catholic parish.
At the same event, Betty Amongi Ongom, the MP for Oyam South and the Gender Minister, also contributed 10M pledged an additional 10 million shillings to the parish, promising that the funds would be transferred soon via bank transaction.
The presence of both ministers at this event showcased a spirit of love and unity, especially since they had not been seen together in public gatherings in Lango for a long time. In his address, Bishop Santus Lino Wanok urged the community to embrace a politics of love. The Anai sub-parish, established four years ago, is now officially recognized as a full Catholic parish, marking a significant milestone.
