Lango Parents Told to Grow Coffee to Overcome Poverty- Agweng Parents School, Lira

Lira, Uganda! As we wrap up the academic year of 2024, parents in the Lango sub-region are being encouraged to invest in agriculture to improve their income.
This message came from Major (Rtd) Emmanuel Opio, the director of Agweng Parents School Nursery and Primary in Lira.
Opio pointed out that one major reason for low school enrollment is poverty, which can be tackled through commercial farming. He shared how his coffee and cocoa farming project has been a great asset to the community and urged parents to get involved. He encouraged them to return home and start growing coffee to help lift themselves out of poverty.
The virbant director, Opio comments made this during the graduation ceremony for the top nursery class at Agweng Parents School.
About 80 kids who successfully went through nursery section are ready to join Primary level next year 2025.
He expressed gratitude to the parents for their ongoing support of the school’s development.
Agweng Parents School is known as the top-performing school in Lango, with impressive academic results that have put the region on the educational map.
During the celebration , the children showcased their talents in music, dance, drama, news reading, and public speaking, bringing joy to their parents.
Moving on, the school management plans to upgrade the institution to include secondary education to address the challenges of low enrollment in higher learning.
