Exclusive : ARDC Jimmy Okello Backs Museveni’s ‘No Sleep, No Corruption’ Drive, Urges Local Leaders to Honour President

Alebtong, Uganda – The Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC) of Alebtong District, Jimmy Okello, has issued a rallying call for local leaders across the country to honor President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, throwing his full weight behind the President’s newly declared term slogan of “No Sleep, No Corruption”.

Commissioner Okello’s remarks come amid a wave of support from various political figures and local government officials for the 2026–2031 term, which President Museveni has dedicated to a reinvigorated fight against corruption.

Praising the President’s leadership, Commissioner Okello specifically highlighted Mr. Museveni’s recent decision to organize a thanksgiving ceremony following his decisive victory in the January 2026 polls. The ARDC described this gesture as a profound demonstration of humility, humanity, and respect for the electorate.

“The President’s choice to return and personally thank the people shows powerful leadership. It confirms he is a leader focused on his people and a capable commander who truly values public support,” Commissioner Okello was quoted as saying.

Beyond the President’s personal qualities, Commissioner Okello also applauded the administration’s ongoing economic agenda. He cited various government wealth creation initiatives, such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), the Youth Livelihood Programme, and the Emyooga scheme, as critical tools in the national effort to eradicate poverty.

“These programs are significantly helping communities improve their household incomes and reduce poverty levels throughout the country,” Commissioner Okello stated, urging all residents of Alebtong and the surrounding areas to fully utilize these opportunities. He further extended his appreciation to the NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Hon. Denis Hanson Obua, for his pivotal role in mobilizing support for the President’s recent visit to the region.

The ARDC’s position mirrors the national sentiment President Museveni articulated during his inauguration speech at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, where he declared the 2026–2031 term a “Kisanja of no more sleeping” and a “Kisanja of no more corruption”. During that address, the President asserted that the nation has laid the “seven bricks” of transformation under the NRM government, including peace and infrastructure, but warned that corruption remains a major obstacle to progress.

As the new term officially begins, Commissioner Okello has urged his fellow local government leaders to align with this national vision by pledging their full commitment to transparency, service delivery, and the continued support of President Museveni’s development agenda.
