Lira City, Uganda; The Luo Natives | The Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, on Tuesday released the results for the 2024 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams on Tuesday. These exams were conducted using two different curriculums: one based on the new lower secondary school curriculum and the other on the old curriculum.

In Lira City, Lango sub-region, there was a celebration at Mentor schools where all students across three campuses performed exceptionally well, qualifying for the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) and National certificates from the UBTEB in various fields, including other certificates courses in the medical field.

For example, at Mentor S.S: St Mary's Magdalene Girl's Campus in Barogole, all 157 girls who sat the exams passed successfully and are now ready to continue their studies.

In her official statement, Headteacher Madam Grace Angom attributed this success to their commitment to providing quality education. She emphasized that St Mary's Magdalene Girl's Campus is dedicated to tackling the issue of poor academic performance among girls in the northern region.

Angom noted that this achievement not only benefits the students and the school but also serves as motivation for other girls, showing that with the right support, they can excel just like boys.

She urged the community to invest in girls' education to enhance their livelihoods and improve social services.

The virbant Headteacher also shared their vision for maintaining these excellent academic results, which includes providing guidance and counseling, holding weekly prayer sessions to connect students with God, and promoting teamwork among teachers.

Mentor S.S: St. Mary's Magdalene Girls' Campus in Barogole, Lira City, is now recognized as one of the top-performing schools in northern Uganda, providing affordable, reliable, and accessible education to the community. Since its establishment, the school has built a strong reputation for nurturing successful women in Lango, producing many accomplished graduates.

Mr. Geoffrey Odur disclosed that as a science-focused institution, their school has raised many students with good grades of A, B, C in Uganda Certificate of Education, particularly in science.

He added that its opens up opportunities for them to pursue science-related fields like nursing and midwifery, among others and come out with science combination.

Additionally, it has been noted that many successful candidates are choosing to continue their education in senior 5 at the same school, as they advance to the next academic level.

Mr. Odur expressed gratitude for the trust placed in them by parents and announced that they are also accepting new students in senior one and five, with openings available in other classes, except for the candidate class.
