Arua, Uganda A tragic road traffic accident occurred today at 10:20 AM in Oria-Adumi Cell, Ayivu West Division, Arua City, along Onduparaka Road, resulting in the deaths of two young men.

The crash involved a green Mercedes Benz Actros trailer (Reg. No. CGO 8604BS01), driven by 55-year-old Madirisha Roman, and a numberless blue Hunter motorcycle ridden by 24-year-old Draku Emmanuel, a resident of Kamiro Cell.

The trailer was traveling from Arua City toward Congo, while the motorcycle was heading from Lia Border into the city.

According to preliminary investigations, Draku Emmanuel, who was reportedly riding at high speed, attempted to overtake the trailer on a slippery section of the road.

Losing control, the motorcycle skidded and fell under the trailer’s rear tires, killing both Draku and his 22-year-old passenger, Adriko Joshua, instantly.

Police attribute the accident to reckless riding by the motorcyclist.

The scene was attended by ASP Ssekajja (District Traffic Officer), Sgt Kamanda, and a police team.

The bodies of the deceased were transported to the mortuary for postmortem examinations.

Both the trailer and motorcycle have been impounded at CPS Arua City for further investigation.

“We call on all motorists and riders to exercise caution and respect road rules to avoid loss of life,” he said.
