LIRA, UGANDA – The grounds of New Generation Nursery and Primary School in Lira City erupted in celebration on Friday, October 24th, 2025, as the institution held a special dedication ceremony for its first-ever Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) candidates. The event, held just days before the final exams, was a powerful show of support for the 24 candidates set to make history as the school's inaugural cohort to sit for the national assessment.

The ceremony saw parents, teachers, and school administrators gather to bless, motivate, and celebrate the candidates. Treated as heroes, the pupils received heartfelt words of encouragement and symbolic gifts to fortify them for the academic challenge ahead.

"In these children, we see the fruit of our vision for a new generation of learners. They are not just prepared academically; they are prepared mentally and emotionally," said the Headteacher, Ms. Apio Sharon Gloria. "This dedication is our way of telling them, 'We believe in you, we are proud of you already, and we are with you every step of the way.'"

The school's commitment to excellence is reflected in its significant investment in a robust mock examination series and intensive revision sessions. Teachers report that the candidates have performed exceptionally well in these pre-tests, a success they attribute to innovative teaching methods that emphasize critical thinking and understanding over rote memorization.

One P7 candidate echoed this sentiment, expressing her readiness: "We have done so many mocks and revisions. Our teachers have prepared us well. I feel nervous but mostly excited to make my school proud."

This confidence was shared by parents. Mr. Patrick Odongo, a parent at the event, stated, "We are happy; finally, our children are finishing their primary section. From what we are seeing, there is a high hope for good results."

The school's Director, Dr. Epila Jacky, an academic herself, highlighted the broader mission of the institution. She noted that since its establishment, New Generation has aimed to relieve parents from the financial burden of school fees while providing quality education.

"With faith, discipline, and determination, we are confident of good grades," Dr. Epila said. "We have prepared these candidates for seven years and they are ready for success." She also took a moment to praise the parents and the entire Lango community for embracing the school since its inception.

According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), the PLE exams will begin with candidate briefing on Friday, October 31st, 2025, with the written papers scheduled for November 3rd and 4th.

As the pioneers left the dedication ceremony, the message was clear: New Generation Nursery and Primary School is not just sending candidates into an examination room; it is launching its first ambassadors of excellence into the world.
