Lira Woman MP Auma Urges Education Ministry to Address Poor School Conditions, Seeks Direct Engagement

Kampala, Uganda : Linda Agnes Auma,Woman MP Lira District has threatened to march to the Ministry of Education over the sorry state of Schools in Lira District.
Speaking before parliament on 16th April 2025, Auma said, Amach Complex SS which is the only A’level Secondary School in Lira District has ill equipped Library & Laboratory and yet the new curriculum stresses the need for practical and participatory studies. This has negatively impacted on the quality of education in the school.
She added that Agweng Secondary School has been in existence and in a bad state without much government intervention with poor facilities which needs immediate attention by the ministry of Education.
On primary education Auma pointed out the inability of the ministry of Education and Sports to code Baroganda P/S in Agweng Sub County and yet it has been in existence and with all the facilities courtesy of Plan International. She then threatened to march to the Minister's Office to seek clarification as to why her letters to the ministry to code the school had not been replied to despite her following the official procedures necessary from her district to the ministry.
She stressed that other Primary Schools such as Ororo P/S, Abongorwot P/S are in bad shape which needs the intervention of the ministry.
The infuriated Auma alerted Parliament and the Ministry of Education and Sports that the poor condition of these learning centers have made students to be outcompeted even in the district quota system and admissions to different universities on government sponsorships.
