Ngai, Oyam District — Acaba Secondary School has expressed full confidence and readiness ahead of the forthcoming Lango USSSA Sports Meet, scheduled to take place this week in Ngai, Oyam District.

The boys’ football competitions will be hosted at Ngai Secondary School, drawing together some of the most competitive school teams from across the Lango sub-region.

After weeks of intensive drills, tactical sessions, and friendly matches, Acaba S.S enters the tournament with high expectations. The school’s sports master, alongside the coaching staff, says the team is determined to make a strong impression and fight for top honors.

Training at the school has been marked by discipline and resilience, with players dedicating long hours on the pitch, refining their skills and building team chemistry. Coaches have emphasized not only physical preparedness but also mental strength and teamwork as key pillars for success.

“We have prepared thoroughly, and our students are highly motivated,” the coach said. “Our target is clear—we are going for the championship.”

The regional competition, organized by the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA), features both boys’ and girls’ football, among other disciplines. It also plays a crucial role in identifying talented players who may advance to national-level competitions.

According to the USSSA Lango Zone Head of Communication, Deograstius Opio Oguti, this year’s games will be hosted in two venues to improve organization and performance. Boys’ matches will take place at Ngai S.S, while girls’ competitions will be held at Iceme Girls Secondary School. He also confirmed that fixtures and the competition roadmap have already been released to participating schools.

At Acaba S.S, the administration has reaffirmed its commitment to balancing both academics and sports. Speaking in a recent address, the headteacher, Simon Okeng, emphasized the school’s holistic approach to student development.

“We are focused on both academic excellence and sports development,” he said. “Our team is well prepared, and we are ready to compete for and bring home the regional trophy.”

Students have also expressed optimism, pointing to improved training facilities and unwavering support from teachers and school leadership. Team captains say unity and determination within the squad could make this a standout year for the school.

Excitement is steadily building in Ngai as residents and sports enthusiasts prepare for the games, which are expected to attract large crowds. The event, slated for Friday, April 10, 2026, will showcase some of the region’s finest young football talent.

As the countdown continues, Acaba Secondary School carries the hopes of its community, with many eager to see whether their preparation and ambition will translate into victory and regional glory.
