Lira, Uganda: Lira court has remanded UPC carder and a blogger, Mr. Tom Anyeng, who faces charges of malicious information and computer misuse.
Known for his criticism of the NRM, Anyeng's troubles began when he allegedly posted information to a social media platform claiming that Lira Regional Hospital was overwhelmed with unattended dead bodies. This claim prompted swift action from authorities of the hospital.
Anyeng was tried by the chief at Lira Magistrate Court, which sent him on remand until March 13, 2025. The same court also declined to grant him bail filed through his lawyer Denis Awon.
While presiding over the case, Magistrate Fay Adoko read the charges to Anyeng and scheduled the next hearing for March 13, 2025.
Recently, during a community baraza at Lira Regional Referral Hospital, RCC Egole warned against youth allegedly being paid by some politicians to tarnish the image of the NRM government in Lango.
